really cool maps

I've always liked maps. I made them, used them and rely on them. They are great ways to communicate information graphically. They tell us a lot about ourselves and how we've changed. Check out these images that map roads in America. We have changed alot and left practically no stone unturned. America is a construction site.
The first shows postal roads/routes from 1796. The second is from an artist named Ben Fry and shows America with a black line for every road. The 3rd is an illustration of our interstate system in the style of a subway map. Click on the image to enlarge.
